What is the Citizens For Parks Committee?

The Citizens for Parks Committee was organized after the Plainfield Park District formed an Advisory Committee in early December 2005 to determine whether the community would support a referendum for improving the parks and associated activities. After four months of review the advisory committee informed the park district that the support was there in the community and they should move forward with the referendum request. Once the park district approved the request, the park district then requested that a committee be formed to promote the referendum, hence the Citizens for Parks was born.

Members of the Citizens for Parks are ordinary people who feel that it is vital that the referendum for park improvements be voted for by citizens who fall within the jurisdiction of the Plainfield Park District. Why do we feel so strongly about this referendum? Because we had or have families who use the park district facilities and participate in their programs. The Citizens for Parks also believe that children and adults need places where they can run, play, learn and feel safe.

It is our mission to get the Plainfield Park District referendum passed on November 7.  Vote YES and watch our great community grow and improve.  The benefits of parks and recreation are endless!
